Republicans are not interested in Democracy…
…they are only interested in Power!
This is glaringly apparent in Texas, where Governor Greg Abbott is actively engaging in voter suppression by limiting the number of drop-off boxes for mail-in ballots to ONE per county. This is especially heinous in Harris County, where the population numbers 4.2 million people.
At this point I am so tired of hearing about the disgusting, dirty tricks that Republicans are using time and again to stay in power. I am the type of person who enjoys a good competition, as long as it is played with an equal application of the rules. This cheating by the Republicans, from gerrymandering the voting districts in their favor to active and open voter suppression and disenfranchisement of voters, is making me sick.
Of course, another way that Republicans want to hang on to power is by stacking the Supreme Court with conservative judges who, they hope, will rule in their favor in cases having to do with business, religion, medicine, insurance, gun laws, voting rights, equality and more.
Speaking of the Supreme Court, a mind blowing thing Lindsey Graham said at the beginning of the judicial hearing on Amy Coney Barrett was that “all Republicans will vote for her, all Democrats against.” How does he know this? Is there no more free will in the Senate? What happened to crossing the isle, voting your conscience, voting for what you believe in, making a decision on what is best for the country, not for yourself?
I am scared for our country and for our democracy if we continue to go down this road. If we get four more years of Trump, a Republican controlled Senate and a conservative Supreme Court, we are in deep trouble. I fear that Trump and many Republican senators are so corrupt and power hungry, they will use the court to roll back laws that currently protect women, the environment, our health and many other issues important to most of us.
Who will protect us? Not the Justice Department because it has already become a political arm for Trump. Our separation of powers has been eroded and thrown into one pot, the legislative, executive and judicial powers are all under Trump’s control.
I predict that if Trump win’s this election, possibly due to voter suppression by the Republicans, he will try and “pull a Putin” and have some kind of referendum to allow him to be President for another couple of terms.
We would be in DEEP TROUBLE!!
