Make America Great…Again — Show Trump the door in 2020
I don’t like Donald Trump! I don’t think that he is a nice or honest guy. To me, he gives off the vibe that he only cares about himself and that he has no true empathy for others. Seeing him in our highest office for the past four years has been very difficult. I personally am embarrassed, knowing that he represents the country that I love and that I am proud to live in.
I was not born here but I have been lucky enough to have been living here for forty years, mostly not involved in any political stuff other than voting in every election, municipal to national.
Seeing the politics of the nation and the world, seeing how things have been changing for the worse, how the shouting, anger and hate have increased while politeness, kindness and tolerance have decreased, I have to get off my butt and get involved, I have to stand up for decency and humanity.
It seems to me that ultimately, all humans want the same basic things, to be warm, dry and fed, to be healthy, to be cared for if we are sick, to have a warm soft place to rest our head at night, to be safe from harm.
It makes no sense at all that a government does not want this for all of its people, that it labels people who do not have work as “lazy, not worthy of health care, not worthy of a roof over their heads, not worthy of food support,” especially if these people are not lily white and do not speak English very well.
It is also not fathomable to me that my government would shut its doors to people who are in need of these things, who are fleeing from violence, hunger and oppression in the countries where they were born.
Seeing the political developments of the past four years, here and abroad, enabled by the GOON who is in the White House, I have had the following thoughts, based on my own sense of what I believe every citizen of this, and any other country in the world would want from their government, to make the world a better place for all.
We deserve a government that: is by the people and for the people, not by the wealthy, for the wealthy, by the old white man, for the old white man, that is transparent, not sneaky and secretive, that has the best interest of the country and its people at heart, that values all of it’s people, not just the rich old white men.
We deserve a president: who is respected in the world, not an embarrassing laughing stock to other world leaders, or an example to strong-men on how to undermine free speech, a free press and democracy in general, who is not uncouth, a liar, thief, sexist, misogynist, racist, homophobe, religious zealot, divider, fascist, white nationalist, opportunist, self promoter, snake oil salesman, who wants to protect the planet that we live on, not damage it at the expense of the many only to benefit the few, who values all people and all human life equally, who wants to improve the life of all people in the country, not just that of the rich white minority, who wants to unite and lead the entire nation, not split and divide it, who follows the law rather than disrespect it, who is modern and forward thinking, not stuck in the past, who treats others with dignity and respect rather than with mockery and threats, who actually understands freedom of speech and the importance of a free press, who will immediately speak out against hate of any kind, not encourage it, who will take criticism and grow from it, rather than tantrum on Twitter like a two year old, spoiled child.
We deserve Senators and Representatives in Congress: that understand the meaning of the words PUBLIC SERVANT and live by it, who will defend the constitution, not mock it and turn it into an aberration to suit their needs, who will stand up to a crooked, corrupt, belligerent, lying, thieving, sexist, racist, homophobic, misogynistic, divisive, hateful, constitution flaunting president, who will do what is in the best interest of our country, even it it may not be the best for themselves, who are independent thinkers, not lock stepping sycophants, who will make up their minds about guilt or innocence after hearing witnesses in a trial, not suppress them, who will allow for investigations to have ample time to uncover evidence and follow leads, if a serious accusation has been brought forward against a public figure or a nominee for a high office, who will not abuse power when they have it, who will work with the opposing party to do the best for our country, who will not be influenced by lobbies and lobbyists, who will consider bills and put them up for a vote, if it is in the best interest of the country but not necessarily for themselves.
MAKE AMERICA GREAT…AGAIN! Kick out the old white men Republican Senators who have proven themselves to be spineless, amoral opportunists who have given up on common sense and decency and allow a crooked, corrupt, belligerent, lying, thieving, sexist, racist, homophobic, misogynistic, divisive, constitution flaunting (did I say lying?) President to stay in power because they are afraid of upsetting his base, not having his support in the next election or worse (shudder), having him shame them in a tweet.
We need Senators and Representatives who are independent, forward thinking, not afraid of standing out or taking a risk,
Congressmen and -women who will do what is right, especially when if it is difficult,
Senators and Representatives who are not lead by the NRA, Evangelicals, Big Oil, Big Business or other special interest groups who are trying to impose their 19th century values on a 21st century world.
