I had these thoughts while watching the news a few weeks ago

Peaceful demonstrations in honor and memory of George Floyd are useful and necessary in order to start working towards a stop in disrespect, systemic racism and hate towards people who look or act different from ourselves.

Rioting and looting is not in the interest of George Floyd or his memory. Insulting, attacking and injuring police officers is not going to change the problems we are having in our society, it is only going to cause more violence, anger and pain.

Remember, when you are in trouble, you call 911 and a police officer comes to help you because the police works for the public. The police are here to protect and serve. Most of them do just that.

Do some abuse their positions and their power? Yes, just like in any other place in our society, it also happens in the police. Those are the people we need to identify and get off the force.

Looting and destroying stores is not going to help anyone. It only benefits those people who want to sow strife and discourse. The people and businesses that are being attacked are our friends and neighbors. They go to work day to day, just like we do. They worry about their families, just like we do. They worry about making ends meet, just like we do. They employ people from our communities, add to our comfort, convenience and lifestyles. By attacking and destroying their places of business we attack ourselves.

Destroying, stealing and plundering from anyone in times of upset, using a sad incident to be violent and thuggish is despicable, vile and disgusting. People who do this are in my opinion nothing more than a steaming pile of human vomit, the worst of what humanity has to offer. They have no honor, their actions show no respect.

What can we do to change things? VOTE!! Cast your vote against the white old men. Support young candidates of both genders, all colors and all sexual orientations. Maybe even run for office yourself.

Since 2016, our country has slowly been descending into chaos and it looks like it is starting to spiral out of control. We have a Troll in the White House who, to put it mildly, is a lying, cheating, manipulating divisive racist.

His government, supported by many members of the Republican Party in the House and Senate, is only interested in holding on to power, not in doing things that benefit our country as a whole, especially the poor, needy and disenfranchised.

The Republican Party has lost its honor because the current Republican leadership is below all standards. People like Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, Thom Tillis, Jim Jordan and many more of the Republicans serving in Congress, need to be removed and replaced in November.

They have been making excuses for Trump’s intolerable, shameful and disgusting behavior over the past four years simply to stay in power.

Among other things, they failed to be open minded during the Impeachment investigation, squashing a trial in the Senate, and are turning out to be the biggest hypocrites with the latest nomination to the Supreme court, trying to push it through a month before the election instead of allowing us, the American People, to choose the person who should make this next nomination, which is what they argued in 2016 when they did not hold a hearing on President Obama’s nomination to the Supreme Court, Merrick Garland, 8 months before the election.

We currently have a judiciary that is shaping up to serve one person and his Sycophants, Emperor Trump and his Congress of Old White Men.

The Republican Senate did not want to take the time to properly investigate accusations of date rape, made against Trumps last Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavenaugh. Using the bully power of senate majority, they pushed through and confirmed his nomination, seating him on the Supreme Court. We now have a justice serving on the court who may or may not, be a rapist.

Our Supreme Court is now comprised of a majority of conservative leaning judges, where women have to fear to loose their rights over their body and generally have our nation be set back to the 18th century in order to keep old, white men in power.

Under the Trump regime, with a Republican controlled Senate, strides we have made in the areas of environmental control and climate change have been set back. Strides we have made in the areas of affordable healthcare for all have been set back. Our standing among the nations in the world has changed from “World Leader” to “Sad Laughing Stock” and “Banana Republic.”

Trump has not been removed from office because the Republican Senate refused to allow witnesses to testify during the impeachment hearings, despite there being plenty of evidence from witnesses that at the least, should have been heard in the setting of an impeachment trial.

The Republican Senators, lead by Mitch McConnell, were afraid of losing power, so they squashed the trial, suppressing evidence and possibly the truth, resulting in our great nation sliding further towards chaos.

With many of his remarks and tweets since 2016, Trump has divided our country. With his open racism and disparaging views towards refugees, immigrants, women, and many more, Trump has set the stage for where we are now.

It was he who said that “he wished that the police would rough up people a bit more when they were arresting them.”

Enough said. Support your neighbors, be nice to each other and cast your vote in November!!

Remember,

PEOPLE HAVE THE POWER!
