How Republicans and Trump have betrayed, screwed and damaged our country
has become crystal clear over the past two days.
And, no, I am not speaking about the January 6th commission and the facts of the vile conspiracy that took place to overthrow the lawfully elected government, which are coming to light.
That investigation is still in progress and hopefully, when it has been concluded, our Department of Justice will come down on the conspirators, from the bottom to the top, like a ton of bricks.
I am talking about the Supreme Court of the United States.
Yesterday, the Supreme Court allowed the carrying of firearms in public, a truly asinine ruling.
I wonder how the Justices would like it if protestors were to carry guns into Supreme Court sessions?
Today, they announced the overthrow of Roe v Wade, a law that has been the law of the land for 50 years.
With that decision, they are sending women’s rights back to the dark ages.
We should go back to the testimony of these conservative Justices to see if they may have committed perjury at their congressional hearings, when being asked about their opinion on Roe v Wade.
Who do we have to thank for this? Of course, the people responsible for so many bad things that have happened to our Republic lately, the Republicans, aka the Party of Death.
When it comes to the Supreme Court, Republicans have screwed and betrayed this nation three times.
The first time was when majority leader in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, did not give Merrick Garland a hearing for a seat on the court, claiming that in an election year, the next President should get to nominate the candidate for the Supreme Court, keeping the seat vacant for 11 months. Trump, after winning the 2016 Election, then got to nominate conservative Neil Gorsuch.
The second time the Republicans screwed our country was when Trump nominated a thoroughly unhinged and unfit candidate, Brett Kavanaugh. He is unbalanced at best, as his hearings showed, when he became belligerent when accusations of sexual improprieties and date rape were brought up against him. He still has these accusations hanging over him because the FBI never fully investigated and subsequently debunked the accusations. So now we have a crazy, beer swilling, date raping misogynist on the bench.
The final insult and next screwing of our Nation came on October 27, 2020, when a Republican Senate confirmed Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court. This occurred 5 days before the national election for President. According to the Republican’s own reasoning, that nomination and appointment, after the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg a few weeks earlier, should never have been made by Trump, seeing that it was in an election year, with the election a mere few weeks away, not 11 months. Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham proved to be the biggest lying hypocrites on this side of the Milky Way. So, now we have Coney Barrett on the court, an ultra radical nutcase, a poster child for “The Handmaid’s Tale,” who strives to live in a society where women are reduced to being nothing more than mindless birthing machines and objects of pleasure for white men.
So, with a conservative majority on the court, we were just handed these two decisions. Prior to those two decisions, there were other alarming ones that went a bit under the radar, having to do with weakening the separation of church and state. They go against the prevailing opinion of people in our Nation, where a majority of people identify as being pro-choice, while at the same time, a majority of people would like to see stricter gun laws!
We are being oppressed by a minority of people who happen to be in key positions of power. They cram their religious, racist, homophobic, transphobic, misogynistic and fascist ideologies down our throats, without us being able to do something about it.
…we have the power of our vote. We can purge the system over the next few election cycles. Republicans have clearly shown, on the local, state and national level, that they are simply unelectable. Their views are radical and un-American, favoring the minority, old white male over the rest of our population. Their policies are designed to give them control and power over women, minorities, and people who are different from them in general.
With the SCOTUS, we can deal in different ways. For example, investigating past statements for perjury, in light of the recent rulings. If they did not clearly state their views on abortion during their confirmation hearings, to be either for or against, that should still be considered lying under oath. Why? Because if you say that you don’t have an opinion, then it infers that you are ok with the status quo. If you were not ok with the status quo, you would definitely have an opinion, since the alternative is at the opposite end of the spectrum!
