Accountability!?

We just found out that the FBI received 2500 calls of information regarding Brett Kavanaugh, at the time he was a Supreme Court nominee. The tips had to do with his possible involvement in a date rape.

The FBI never followed up on or investigated these tips, instead, they send it to the Trump White House, which promptly “made the problem go away.” As a result, Kavanaugh, an unstable, accused date rapist, is now sitting on the U.S. Supreme Court and has just been instrumental in overturning Roe v. Wade, which had been the law of the land regarding abortion rights for almost 50 years.

What should be done about this? In my opinion, the FBI must take up the dropped investigation of Kavanaugh again. They must follow the leads that they had received. If they do not have these leads anymore, then they must ask for people who may have information regarding the case, to come forward, again.

If in the investigation, Kavanaugh is found to have been involved in what he is accused of, then he will need to be impeached and removed from his position on the court, unless he resigns on his own first.

On a related note, Justices Amy Coney Barrett and Neil Gorsuch should also be investigated for lying under oath in their confirmation hearings, an issue that has come up after Roe v. Wade was overturned.

Those people who ignored or did nothing about the information received by the FBI, but later claimed that an investigation had been conducted and had turned up nothing, must be investigated themselves for dereliction of duty, lying, or simply for incompetence on the job.

It also came to light in the last month, that the Secret Service has permanently erased communication, emails and text messages, that they were supposed to have preserved, as official record as well as possible evidence in the January 6 investigation, not just by the January 6 committee but also any possible investigation by the Department of Justice.

Against the explicit order, the communications have been permanently erased, under the flimsy guise, that the cell phones for all Secret Service agents had to be updated. This reeks of hiding or destroying evidence!

Here too, an investigation into the when, where, who, how and why should be started and any people guilty of wrongdoing should be held personally as well as criminally accountable, if it applies.

For too long now, corrupt people in government have got away without punishment for their misdeeds! The most glaring example is Trump, who was not held accountable by a Republican Senate during two impeachment trials.

He is still thumbing his nose at the American people over the failed insurrection that he orchestrated and initiated with his lie about a stolen election.

We have too many people in government who think that they can “get away with murder,” because in a democracy, the law is too slow to react, and voters are too stupid to kick them out of office.

We have glaring examples in Florida and Texas, as well as in other states, of Republican politicians who are either bending the law, using dirty tricks or simply fascist methods to grab power while they can. They must be stopped and held accountable for their actions!

We have to rely on the law, and on our justice system, no matter how long it may take for people to be held accountable. In the end, they will be brought to justice!

After all, while it took us 21 years to deliver justice to Ayman al-Zawihiri, justice was delivered in the end.
