In spite of a decent showing for Democrats, how can it be that Republicans won ANY of their races in the midterms, anywhere?
Not only that, how can anyone considering themselves to be a decent human being, vote for a subhuman scum like Ron DeSantis?
WTF Florida? Has the Latin population in Dade County gone mad? Is the population of Florida truly this stupid, re-electing a person who I can only describe as “Scum of the Earth,” and I am being nice.
If you have a grandmother, mother, aunt, sister, daughter, sister-in-law, or wife, how can you vote for someone who wants to severely restrict abortion rights? If you or your family immigrated to this country at some point in the past, how can you give your vote to that xenophobic, anti-immigrant swine hemorrhoid? If you have acquaintances, friends, or family who belong to the LGBTQ+ community, how can you throw away your vote on that homophobic piece of shite? If you have black friends or family, how can you cast your vote in favor of this black history-denying and black history-erasing scum-sucking bottom feeder?
Are there really so many racists and fascists in this country, or are people just plain old stupid, and ignorant?
It is probably a bit of both, stupid and ignorant people who are also intolerant, racists, and fascists, or people who don’t mind the increasing intolerance, racism, and fascism around them.
Throw in the conspiracy theorists, radical evangelicals, autocrats, paternalists, patriarchs, sexists, homophobes, xenophobes, and any other intolerant citizens of this country who are apparently finding a home in the Republican Party, and you arrive at where we are now.
Here in North Carolina, the election was a mixed bag. We elected Republican judges to the state supreme court, which probably means that we will lose some freedoms if they decide cases based on their political ideology instead of the law. We have seen that happen with the Supreme Court, so it can happen here as well. Sadly, Cheri Beasley narrowly lost her bid for the U.S. Senate to Election Denier and Big Pharma stooge, Ted Budd, but on the bright side, Wiley Nickel defeated Trump-endorsed “Hitler Youth” Bo Hines in North Carolina’s 13th Congressional District election and sent him back to whatever dark pit of slime he crawled out of.
The world is not a nice place at this time. It could be so much better, were it not for horrible individuals like DeSantis, Trump, Putin, Xi, Erdoğan, Orbán, Musk, Murdoch, and all the other haters and scumbags, too many to name, who are just like them. They make Life for everyone else around them anything from “dark and joyless” to “a living hell.”
Everything moves in cycles, and the time of EVIL seems to have come around again. All we can do is carry on and fight the haters, autocrats, oppressors, and their ilk whenever and wherever we can, by voting, boycotting, striking, demonstrating, using acts of civil disobedience, and most of all, laughing at them and constantly and diligently pointing out their lies and hypocrisy.
